The Lower Township Democratic Club has endorsed three community-minded candidates for Lower Township Council. Their combined campaign is called the Lower Township Democratic Victory Committee. Cozette Gasser, past-chair of this club, said, “We are very proud to offer three fine candidates this year.”

Carmela Pallotta (Ward 1) has earned recognition for her tireless work as a teacher and administrator. Her work with special needs students earned her the Ruth E. Neumann Award for Educational Excellence. Carmela is also an award-winning artist and conducts workshops as a volunteer throughout Cape May County. If elected to Council, Carmela pledges to work hard for families and especially children and the elderly.

Thomas Poussart (Ward 2) has had a combined 40-year career maintaining communications and computer systems for the Navy and the Federal Aviation Administration. At the FAA, he managed a team that maintained the air traffic control system. As a member of the New Jersey Air National Guard, Tom maintained jet fighter bombing computers and gun-sights. Since moving to Lower Township, Tom and his wife, Ellen, have volunteered for various organizations, including Habitat for Humanity and Family Promise. If elected to Council, Tom pledges to listen to the needs of the residents and to make sure that their concerns and needs are met by Township leadership.

Kit Marlowe (Ward 3) is a chemist, an engineer, and a safety manager. He specialized in preparing water and wastewater utilities for emergencies. Kit strongly advocates for transparency in local government and wants to offer new, creative solutions to some of the Township’s problems. If elected to Council, Kit promises to keep all citizens informed of the actions of Council and will be open to their ideas on making Lower Township a safe, healthy, and prosperous community.

Bob Rizzo, a resident of Mickel’s Run, said, “Lower Township will benefit greatly from highly qualified candidates who pledge to govern openly and honestly.”
